Health Applications

Health applications are becoming more popular than ever. Downloading health applications on your smart phone or computer can help with staying healthy, exercising more, and eating well. You need to make sure the health app will provide you with accurate information about your health.
Tips for finding the best health applications:

1. Do you need to pay for the app or is it free? Some applications might try to persuade you to download it just because it is free. Some of these apps will have a lot of ads associated with them and they will try to sell you things. Be cautious with free applications.

2. Who is the sponsor of the app/who makes the app? Make sure whoever made the app is a reliable source. Some reliable sources would be hospitals, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations.

3. Read the reviews! Most applications have customer reviews associated with them. Read these reviews and see what other people thought about the application.

4. Check for updates. If you end up downloading a health app. Make sure it’s up to date so that it is always calculating correct information.

5. Check for a privacy policy. There should be a way to look through a privacy policy when downloading each application. Read through it and make sure that your health information is confidential.

6. Trial the application! If you are still unsure about the application, you can always trial it out for a few weeks or keep looking for another application.

Some applications that I would recommend include:

With this application, you can easily track your exercise, calories from the food you eat, and stay on track with your health.

This application automatically tracks how many steps you’ve had, active minutes/exercise minutes, how many times you’ve stood up throughout the day, and distance you’ve walked. You have to have an apple watch to use this application.

The Fitbit application helps users track their steps, and workouts. It tracks your personal progress in the application and allows you to achieve goals. It allows you to connect with others so you can see each other’s workouts.
